Standards and retail labels are different

Garment-measurement standards define methods and labeling concepts. They do not make every EU 38 the same bust or waist measurement across manufacturers. Check the chart for the exact product and market.

Italian and French labels are not identical

Gucci’s women’s dresses and tops chart provides IT 40, EU 36, US 4 and UK 8 as an example. This is a sourced brand mapping, not an instruction to apply one fixed offset to every Italian garment.

Men’s categories need different measurements

European suit labels may correspond approximately to half the chest circumference in centimeters. Collar-sized shirts use neck measurements instead. Trousers need waist, rise and leg measurements, not the jacket conversion.

Choose with measurements

Use body measurements with a body chart and garment measurements with a product chart. Neither European origin nor a numeric label proves a closer fit than another country’s products.
