Italy sizes
IT (clothing, EU +2) ยท Paris Point (shoes)
Italian clothing labels sit two numbers above generic EU. Italian shoemakers use whole EU sizes and narrower lasts.
Women's clothing offset
IT = EU + 2 (IT 40 = EU 38)
Men's suit
Drop 6 = regular; Drop 8 = athletic
Shoe scale
Standard EU (Paris Point)
Italian women's clothing uses the IT scale: IT 40 = EU 38 = US 4. Men's suit sizing uses the Drop system (drop = chest cm minus waist cm), typically Drop 6, 7 or 8.
Italian shoe brands (Gucci, Prada, Tod's) use standard EU numbering with narrower, longer lasts than athletic brands. Expect to size up 0.5 vs Nike or Adidas.
Common pitfalls
- IT and EU labels differ by 2 โ mistaking IT 42 for EU 42 puts you two sizes off.
- Italian luxury shoes run narrow โ wide feet should size up or seek out D width.
- 'Drop' on Italian suits is chest cm โ waist cm, not a size number.
