EU footwear uses the Paris-point length scale, but manufacturer conversion labels can differ. Modern charts can use fractional sizes, including adidas one-third and two-third labels.
European clothing measurement standards do not impose one mandatory retail numeric chart. Gucci’s women’s dresses and tops provide IT 40 = EU 36 = US 4 = UK 8 as one brand example.
Common pitfalls
- Traditional EU has no half sizes; athletic brands add them — Nike's EU 43 is not Adidas's EU 43.
- Italian and French clothing labels differ from generic EU — check the country of origin.
- EN 13402 is a standard, not a mandate; not every EU brand follows it.
- Check the current regional product chart. Country labels do not guarantee length, width or body fit.
